Archie W. Skidmore
Archie is the founding member of Skidmore & Associates. For 55 years Archie has tried cases before some of the most distinguished jurists of Summit County.
Archie attended classes at Kent State University and entered the University of Akron law school on the GI Bill. While attending law school, Archie worked as a title examiner at Summit Title Company and Lawyers Title Insurance Company and in the real estate loan department for construction and development at the Evans Savings & Loan.
Upon graduation from law school in 1954, Archie became a sole practitioner sharing one desk with four other attorneys to perform the administrative and legal tasks of a bustling law office. In the beginning, Archie's practice included a concentration in banking and real estate law, as a result of his prior work-related experiences in the title and banking sectors.
He was a partner in the law firm of Schwab, Grosenbaugh, Rothal, Fort, Skidmore & Nukes, Inc., which was established in June, 1971. Thereafter, Archie founded the firm "Archie W. Skidmore Co., L.P.A." in June, 1976. Recently, the firm's name has been changed to "Skidmore & Associates, A Legal Professional Association". Archie's primary areas of legal practice include real estate, construction law, business and corporate law, probate law, municipal corporation law and complex business and civil litigation.
Archie was joined in 1984 by associates Spiros Vasilatos, Jr., and his two eldest sons, Brian and Eric in 1986 and 1989 respectively.
Archie is a member of the Akron and Medina Bar Associations. He is currently a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and its Corporate Counsel, Estate Planning, Trust, Probate, Intellectual Property Law, Labor & Employment Law, Litigation and Real Property Law Sections. Archie is a member of the American Bar Association. Archie has received a performance rating of "A" (from very high to pre-eminent legal ability rating) and "V" (very high ethical standards rating) from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory established by confidential opinions from members of the Bar.
Archie was admitted to practice in the State of Ohio in 1955 and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, and U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit; and U.S. Supreme Court, 1975.
Archie has also been a presenter for continuing legal education programs and has given talks to lay groups in the areas of real estate and title issues.
