Skidmore & Associates Attend Peace Pole Ceremony and Swing
Set Dedication at Herberich Primary School.
On September 11, 2003 Herberich Primary School conducted an assembly
honoring those men, women and children who were killed in the tragic
events of September 11, 2001. Archie and Eric Skidmore attended
the ceremony. All of the children gathered outside the main entrance
of the school around the ”Peace Poles”. The Peace Poles
convey the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in sixteen
languages. The children sang patriotic songs in honor of the event.
“The weather was beautiful that day, couldn’t have been
better,” said Archie Skidmore. “It was wonderful to
hear them sing,” he added. The Peace Pole assembly was combined
with a dedication of the new swing set project. Skidmore & Associates,
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7971 (Copley, Ohio) and others contributed
to the project. The equipment included new swings that are accessible
to multiple-handicapped students. “We received such a warm
reception from the children and faculty,” Eric Skidmore said.
“We got to tour some of the school facilities and meet some
of the students who had played on the swings. They were grinning
from ear to ear,” he said. “We received a “Thank
You” print from the children in Mrs. Kasper’s class.
There’s a caricature of the children and the teachers. Each
child certified the drawing with a fingerprint and signature. It’s
displayed in my office, so everyone can admire it,” he added.
