The CFAA White Sox Attend Akron Aeros Game at Canal Park
On July 25, 2002, the CFAA White Sox and their families attended
an Akron Aeros Baseball Game at Canal Park, Akron, Ohio, compliments
of Skidmore & Associates. The Aeros hosted the Redding Phillies.
Eleven boys and girls between the ages of 5 – 6 assembled
before the game and participated in a parade within the perimeter
of the ballpark. The White Sox, led by Coach Rick, tipped their
hats to their parents sitting in the front rows of Section 117 with
video cameras rolling. The White Sox then gave a “curtain
call” to Sections 114 - 116, and received a standing ovation
from approximately 200 Aeros fans. The players then settled in with
their families to watch the baseball game. The players were thrilled
when they received a lengthy visit from the Aeros mascot, “Orbit”.
These Little Leaguers were introduced to minor league baseball at
its finest.
After the Aeros were held scoreless for a number of innings, the
Aeros tied the game in the bottom of the 9th and beat the Phillies
in extra innings. “It was a very exciting event for our Little
Leaguers, many of our players were attending an organized baseball
game for the first time … the Aeros front office manager,
Dan Burr, was very courteous to our group … It will be an
event that we will repeat next year as a part of our sponsorship,”
Eric Skidmore said.
